I used Neighborhoodscout.com to get the murder rates for Washington, DC and Greensboro.
The site provides 2023 data. The rate in Greensboro was 0.25 per 1,000 population. In Washington, D.C., it was 0.39 per 1,000 population. We can take some comfort in the fact that our rate is 36% lower than that of the nation’s capital.
However, the national average is 0.06 per 1,000 population. That means our murder rate is four times greater than the national average. That is quite an achievement!
When Trump is through with Washington, D.C., it is very possible Greensboro will exceed Washington, D.C. with regard to murder rates. Indeed, that seems very plausible.
Right now the streets of both Washington, D.C. and Greensboro are unsafe. What can be down to make Greensboro residents feel comfortable and secure.? That is a rhetorical question.
The two cities both have black democratic socialist political leadership that actively resists using law enforcement to reduce crime. The two cities are very similar from that perspective. What needs to be done? We all know what would be necessary; and the police are a critical piece.
Trump can’t take over Greensboro’s police department.
