GOP-Majority Supreme Court Doing Much Better

For many years, Republican Supreme Court justices have been a mixed bag. They ruled correctly at various times; but during other times they had engaged in egregious error.

The last couple of years have been much better. Last year’s decisions were outstanding overall; and that is true this year also.

This week has been “shock and awe” once again.

Earlier this week, the court ruled that the states could deny Medicaid funding of Planned Parenthood (HT: Fred).

And today, the court ruled:

The ban on nationwide injunctions by district court judges is a major advancement because the left has been using the courts to advance their agenda. It is clear that they have been engaging in a massive, coordinated effort involving various left wing groups and attorneys’ groups to undermine Trump’s executive authority. It is quite simple for them to cherry pick the federal district courts to obtain the outcome they desire.

I really don’t have an explanation as to why the GOP-appointed justices are doing so much better. Something is happening internally among those six justices; and I don’t know what it is precisely. But this is so far outside of the historical pattern that it merits recognition and perhaps exploration.

  1. Now if the GOP-majority Congress would stand up to its primary job of legislation rather than continually running for office and leaving legislation to federal agencies and executive orders!
