JetZero To Create 10,000 Jobs At PTI?

WRAL is reporting that JetZero is going to build its aircraft manufacturing plant in Guilford County. The company is based in California.

(Interestingly, it chose not to build the plant in California.)

If this comes to fruition, this is the biggest jobs announcement I have seen in the Triad over the last three decades.

This will be in addition to Boom Supersonic. Recall that Trump loosened some regulations on supersonic aircraft within the last week; and this will accrue to Boom’s benefit.

It appears Boeing and the city of Seattle might have reason for concern.

This is a reflection of our state’s competitive economic posture. Greensboro and Guilford County are cashing in on the state’s success.

  1. This is off in the distance but I don’t think there are that many people in the Triad with the skill sets needed by JetZero .

Now Honda Jet employs about 1400 at their Greensboro, albeit a niche market.

Despite all their recent problems Boeing has 170,000 employees in the US and 65 countries. The world wide fleet of passenger jets is about 20,000, half of which are .Boeing. Boeing jets carry half of the worlds cargo. So I don’t think that Boeing has any thing to worry anout

    1. Fred, Boeing has had so many quality problems that a successful new entrant could make a dent in their market share. JetZero offers the advantage of less fuel consumption, thereby enhancing cost efficiency; and Boom Supersonic offers faster flights.

It will be interesting to see how many orders these new entrants will have. The local labor pool is probably an issue, as you say. And it is not a “done deal”. WRAL is reporting that JetZero has chosen the Triad, but I don’t think that is yet confirmed.
