Guilford Education Establishment Demands More Money Despite Historic Increases

A report this week suggests that the local education establishment is demanding increased funding from the Guilford County Commissioners.

This occurs in spite of the fact that education funding has increased dramatically in the state of North Carolina. Carolina Journal has the details:

Since 1970, real per-student financial support for K–12 public schools has increased from $4,434 per student in 1969–70 to $12,345 in 2022 (current dollars), an increase of 178 percent. The chart shows the steady increases in support through about 2007, then declines in real support until about 2011–12, and the slow but consistent climb since then. Real per-student spending in North Carolina is now the highest it has ever been.

It is utterly impossible to satisfy an insatiable appetite. If I were a county commissioner, I would kindly suggest they take a hike.

  1. TC: You are exactly correct. This is an ever ending battle between the educational establishment and the taxpayers ( who are playing with both hands tied behind their backs )

Alston and his gang of socialists Ds will no doubt give the noisy crowd what they demand.

  2. What did they do with the millions they saved when the schools were closed for almost two years during Covid??
