This was a dramatic turn of events. Ukraine could not have pulled this off without the assistance of NATO powers and/or the United States. We now wait to see what Russia will do in response.

He has been wrong before. Maybe this time he has it right. It is a tricky issue.
It’s unthinkable, Fred, that someone in the US government did not know about this. If Trump did not know, I wonder what he will do about it (although I suspect he DID know) given the fact that he had been predicting something really bad was going to happen to Russia if they did not negotiate in good faith.
There is a good chance the attack is the CIA’s doing, ginning up the war, against Trump’s aims of negotiations. It seems unlikely the Ukrainians could have done it without the CIA.
Many things are looking like the Deep State is very much in charge. We voted for Trump but for all practical purposes, we got John McCain.
I hope we learn more about this somehow, J. Sobran. Thus far, Russia has shown enormous restraint and has not attacked NATO nations. But this was a risky move, and we don’t know what will tip Russia over the edge. Given the fact it has no formalized military alliances in its war against Ukraine, perhaps we will dodge a bullet again. (Yes, there has been some help from the Chinese and the North Koreans.)
