In 1956 I took my Dad to a Billy Graham crusade at the Charlotte Coliseum .
There we heard George Beverly Shea sing the beloved ” How Great Thou Art “
Carrie Underwood definitely gives it a different twist than Shea, Fred, but the message is the same. And it is a great message.
Mighty, mighty fine. Especially the 1st verse before obligatory drums introduced. Carrie has a fabulous voice. Thanks, Triad. It is such a great hymn, though not as ancient as you might imagine. Swedish tune from the 1880s if memory serves. English translation only ~1940s? So George Beverly was probably who made it into what it has become.
Thanks, J. Sobran. A great Christian hymn/ spiritual song, no doubt.
By the way, the American Idol program on Sunday night was for at least a couple of hours and was to focus solely on “songs of faith”. I only a couple of brief excerpts. I hope the remainder was as worshipful and inspiring as this one.
