How Will Summerfield Get Treated In The NC General Assembly?

A couple of articles suggest that machinations are taking place to remove David Couch’s property from the town of Summerfield and “de-annex” it into Greensboro. The town had already made concessions to Couch in anticipation that the Raleigh Republicans might do this; but Couch has apparently decided he wants more.

A News and Record article suggests town leaders expect a bill to achieve this objective will be brought to a vote during the “short session” that has just begun.

A Rhino Times article cites a very strong resolution by the town of Stokesdale opposing this move. That town’s leaders claim that NC Senator Phil Berger has said the vote will take place.

The state legislature is acting at the behest of the well-heeled donor class. Simultaneously, the people who have made a decision to live in Summerfield are getting shafted. Ill winds are brewing in the state of North Carolina.
