Breaking news is that Roe v. Wade has been overturned.
Praise God! Alleluia!
Justice John Roberts refrained from fully joining the socialists in opposition to this decision. And the other Republican-appointed Justices held firm in spite of all the criminal pressure exerted upon them. This is very unexpected, but worthy of enormous celebration.
The battlefield now turns to the states. The Republican leadership in Raleigh has already indicated they are not going to attempt to pass any pro-life legislation this year tightening restrictions on legal abortion. That needs to change.
One dynamic that needs to be considered is that the "abortion pill" is being widely circulated by mail order and telemedicine. That needs to be prohibited-- both in North Carolina and at the federal level. That is a major method for the pro-abortion side to get their way and evade restrictions in spite of today's ruling.
The Biden Administration has also been cooking up other actions in anticipation of this ruling to facilitate abortions. Woke corporations are already promising to pay to send their employees across state lines to obtain abortions.
Let's celebrate nonetheless. And let's move the ball further up the field.
Addendum: We should note that fully three of the Justices who joined this decision had been appointed by President Donald Trump.
Addendum #2: NC Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger and NC House Speaker Tim Moore say they will not take action this year; but they imply action might be taken next year. They also will seek enforcement of previously passed abortion legislation in North Carolina that had been blocked; but they might have to rely on our pro-abortion State Attorney General, Josh Stein to take action.
AG Stein is, as you point out, problematic. And so could some of the 44 District Attorneys in the State.
There has to sanctions for a Prosecutor failing to carry out the law on the issue, that is if the General Assembly passes one ? ( That is a question )

There will be, no doubt, be all sorts of mischief ahead by the anti-life forces.

Fred, the North Carolina General Assembly passed a 20 week abortion ban that was shot down by the courts. Stein would have to affirmatively take action to get in reinstated and to enforce it. And as you point out, the DA's are another issue.
There is much work to be done in North Carolina.
