From the Conservative Baptist Network:
At the 2021 SBC Annual Meeting in Nashville, the Committee on Resolutions—a committee of which current SBC presidential candidate Bart Barber was a part—decided to not bring forward to messengers a resolution submitted in support of the abolition of abortion. Messengers voted, however, to compel the resolution to be brought forward for a vote at which point ERLC staff member Joshua Wester opposed the resolution from the convention hall floor. Despite opposition from the Resolutions Committee and the ERLC, messengers approved an amended version of the resolution.
The resolution expressed that the will of the overwhelming majority of messengers gathered in 2021 supported ending abortion and upholding just punishment for abortion, recognizing that, “the murder of preborn children is a crime against humanity that must be punished equally under the law.”
This is among the numerous reasons the current leadership crowd needs to be removed and new leadership installed.
