The Supreme Court today elucidated the "reasonable", "responsible" Republican position regarding federal vaccine mandates enacted by Joe Biden.
It was entirely acceptable-- indeed, desirable-- to vacate the OSHA mandate, in the eyes of the prototypical Republican public official.
But the health care mandate? Why, imagine what people would think if we Republicans caused them to feel "unsafe" in the health care setting! That was a political risk that simply could not be taken.
It was "reasonable" to force vaccines on health care workers because it would prevent them from spreading COVID to patients. It was "reasonable" even if some young health care workers who were not even at risk of COVID complications would get killed by the vaccines.
Of course, the medical facts-- that the vaccines don't reliably prevent transmission, and that they harm large numbers of people--were not considered by the progressive Republican justices (i.e., Roberts and Kavanaugh). These medical facts were presented in various briefs before the court that apparently did not get read by our esteemed justices-- er, oligarchs.
Of course, the socialist wing voted in lockstep, but the GOP justices split. The ruling majority apparently felt that Congress legislatively gave the federal government this power to force vaccines on health care workers. Of course, Roberts and Kavanaugh conveniently overlooked the Constitution itself under which it would be unthinkable for the federal government to enact such requirements.
Sigh. I guess that half a loaf is better than none.

I suppose, Fred. But I fear that the true figures on how many people the vaccines have killed are going to turn out to be much more than most of us would have imagined. This is an issue that has flown beneath the radar screen, but I can't help but feel that the public will ultimately become aware.
