There was much media fanfare yesterday about the Women's March held in Washington, D.C. and in other cities. An event here in Greensboro apparently attracted 2,800 people. The establishment media granted generous sympathetic coverage with the implication that the entreaties of these women must be heeded because, in fact, they are women.
The big issues, of course, were abortion and (secondarily) the promotion of free contraception.
Scanning the online reports suggested there was considerable vulgarity, threatening language and profanity employed by march participants and featured speakers. It was truly awful. Much psychopathology was on display. But the media/left complex thought it was quite praiseworthy.
The big worldview elements the participants were expressing were sexual liberationism, cultural relativism and radical feminism. It was deemed imperative that a woman should be free to choose the killing of her unborn children for her own convenience. That is the level of the ethics that were espoused.
As I reviewed the reports, I thought back to the teachings of the old Hebrew Bible-- i.e., the Old Testament. One particular book, Proverbs, relates Godly wisdom. What does it have to say about women? (NKJV)
Proverbs 31: 10-12
And knowledge is pleasant to your soul,
11 Discretion will preserve you;
Understanding will keep you,
12 To deliver you from the way of evil...
From the seductress who flatters with her words,
And forgets the covenant of her God.
18 For her house leads down to death,
And her paths to the dead;
19 None who go to her return,
Nor do they regain the paths of life—
She is simple, and knows nothing.
So is a lovely woman who lacks discretion.
But the foolish pulls it down with her hands.
He who is abhorred by the Lord will fall there.
She eats and wipes her mouth,
And says, “I have done no wickedness.”
But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
26 And I find more bitter than death
The woman whose heart is snares and nets,
Whose hands are fetters.
He who pleases God shall escape from her,
But the sinner shall be trapped by her.
You get the gist. There is no equivocation.
The mind of God is revealed through scripture. And it is clear that He believes both men and women are quite capable of adopting sinful actions and attitudes. Women are not exempt from this condition.
The mere premise that the marches or rallies in Greensboro and Washington, D.C. are somehow illustrative of some enlightened condition, some justifiable claim of "rights", is simply absurd when viewed through the prisms of history and scripture. The establishment media has it all wrong, as usual.
These events were, at their essence, demonstrations of awfulness.
Within the next week, there will be pro-life demonstrations in Washington, D.C. One took place yesterday in Raleigh. Pro-life events tend to be under-reported and minimized by the media. This is a tradition that dates back decades.
Many women will be at the pro-life rallies in Washington this week, but they will likely be disregarded for the most part. The old media double standard is plainly operative. But the biggest offense is failing to recognize the utter moral corruption exemplified yesterday in Greensboro and Washington at the Evil Women's Marches.
